The results of the last admission campaign, the results of educational activities in 2022-2023 academic year, as well as the system of organisation of educational work of the university were the key topics of today's meeting of the Academic Council of the Volga Region University of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism. Traditionally, the event was chaired by the Rector of the university Rafis Burganov. The reports were made by the head of the department of organisation of admission of applicants - the executive secretary of the admission committee of the university Danir Islyamov, the head of the educational department Gulnaz Kamalova, the head of the department of social and educational work Chulpan Galieva.

As Danir Islyamov, Executive Secretary of the Admission Committee, said during the meeting, the total number of applications for admission this year was 4754. 1249 people became students of the sports university of Tatarstan, 125 people became students of the college, which opened its doors on the basis of the university for the first time this year. Among those admitted to the Volga Region University there are honoured masters of sports, international class masters of sports, winners of World and European Championships, as well as winners of the All-Russian Olympiads in physical culture.

It is worth noting that among the newly graduated students there are representatives of 11 countries - 30 people in total. 43.6 percent of the total number of applicants came to study in Kazan from other regions of Russia (59 regions).

During the meeting, the head of the university’s educational department, Gulnaz Kamalova, spoke about the educational programs being implemented and the movement of the student population.

The head of the department for social and educational work in her report dwelt in detail on the main areas of activity: civil-patriotic, spiritual-moral, professional-labor, cultural-educational, physical, environmental education of youth, volunteer activities, popularization of a healthy lifestyle, as well as project activities of university students.

The meeting ended with the awarding of departmental honours to the Volga Region University employees. Letters of appreciation for irreproachable, conscientious labour, high professional qualities and successes achieved in their work from the hands of the rector himself were given to Ranis Khairullin, associate professor of the Department of Theory and Methods of Volleyball and Basketball, Albina Baranova, senior lecturer of the Department of Theory and Methods of Volleyball and Basketball, Victoria Plotnikova, lecturer of the Department of Theory and Methodology of Volleyball and Basketball, Marina Drogomoretskaya, lecturer of the Department of Theory and Methodology of Volleyball and Basketball, Alexey Popov, lecturer of the Department of Theory and Methodology of Volleyball and Basketball, Irina Vlasova, senior laboratory assistant of the Department of Theory and Methodology of Volleyball and Basketball.
