In two weeks, on June 20, Volga Region University of Physical Education, Sports, and Tourism will begin accepting applications. Ahead of this most anticipated date, we'll tell you when the entrance examinations will be held, how many state-funded places are available, and what innovations await in the new academic year.
As a reminder, applications can be submitted for all levels of education (secondary, undergraduate, and graduate) and modes of study (state-funded and fee-based) both at the university (in person or by mail) and through the "Superservice" portal on the Gosuslugi (Government Services) portal.
For the 2026-2027 academic year, Volga Region University offers 762 state-funded and 325 non-state-funded places in the undergraduate program, 166 state-funded and 148 non-state-funded places in the master's program, and 75 state-funded and 80 non-state-funded places in the Secondary Vocational Education Department.
You can compete for these places during entrance examinations, which will assess both applicants' knowledge and their physical fitness. Bachelor's degree applicants will take exams from July 16 to July 23 for state-funded students and from August 15 to 22 for fee-paying students. Master's degree applicants will take exams from July 27 to August 12 and from August 12 to 23 for state-funded and fee-paying students, respectively. Entrance examinations for college applicants will be held on August 13.
Applicants will take exams in Russian in the academic laboratory building and at the university's sports facilities under the supervision of Volga Region University faculty and staff.
The university is expanding its program offerings at all levels for the upcoming academic year. In the Secondary Vocational Education Department, Technical Operation and Maintenance of Information Systems will replace Information Systems and Programming. Furthermore, starting this year, only ninth-grade students can apply to the Physical Education program.
A new undergraduate program, Adaptive Sports, has been announced, and the Organizational and Management Activities in Physical Education and Sports program will replace the Sports Management program. In total, undergraduate students will be admitted to 10 programs and 24 sports. It's important to note that, according to the admissions rules, applications can only be submitted to five programs.
A number of new programs have also been added to the Master's program: the Public Administration in Physical Education and Sports program will replace the Management in Physical Education and Sports program.
According to the Volga Region University Admissions Office, other changes have been made to the admissions rules. For example, the target quota is now more detailed – places are formed based on the specific requests of sponsors willing to support the education of targeted students and employ them upon graduation.
Furthermore, applicants to bachelor's degree programs based on specialized secondary vocational education are eligible to take specialized entrance examinations, while applicants based on non-specialized secondary vocational education are only admitted based on their Unified State Exam (USE) results.
More detailed information about the admissions rules for the 2026-2027 academic year is available on the university website in the "Applicants" section.
