Rafis Burganov, Rector of the Volga Region University of Sport and Tourism, reported on the results of the past academic year, the completion of the admission campaign and the university's readiness for the new academic year at the online meeting of sports universities of the Russian Federation chaired by Oleg Matytsin, Minister of Sport of Russia.

In particular, the rector of the university said that the university is currently implementing 47 programmes at all levels of education. "The University has fully met the control figures for admission in 2023 for all educational programmes, both higher and secondary vocational education," Rafis Burganov stressed. - During the admission campaign, 4754 applications from 2670 applicants were accepted and 1247 students were enrolled in the first year, of which 125 students were accepted for the programmes of vocational education, 875 for bachelor's degree and 247 for master's degree".

In addition, the rector of the Volga Region University noted that at the beginning of the 2023-2024 academic year the number of students of the university is 4,097 people from 78 subjects of the Russian Federation and 15 foreign countries. 
"In this admission campaign, the university was allocated 957 places, of which 25 places on SPO programmes, 712 on bachelor's degree programmes, including 83 places for part-time study, and 220 on master's degree programmes," Rafis Burganov said.

Welcoming the audience, the Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation cited the report of the rector of the Volga Region University as an example. "I have just told my colleagues to take the form of Rafis Timerkhanovich's report as a model, everything is clear and informative", - Oleg Matytsin emphasised.

The Minister of Sport thanked the heads of sports universities and their teams for their well-coordinated work. 
"Despite all the difficulties of the current period, we continue our activities to train professional staff. We are responsible for the specialists who will develop our industry in the future", - Oleg Matytsin noted.
