Today, on December 23, the Volga Region State University of Physical Culture, Sport and Tourism held its annual year-end review ceremony. Guests of honour, the university's directorate, students, faculty and staff once again gathered in the concert hall to announce the results of the outgoing year.
Among the guests were Tatarstan's Deputy Minister of Sports Ildar Sadriev, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Tatarstan Stanislav Andreev, Deputy Minister of Youth Affairs of the Republic Sofia Mustafina, Deputy Head of Administration of Vakhitovsky and Privolzhsky Districts of Kazan Olga Drozdetskaya, Deputy Head of the State Committee for Tourism of Tatarstan Gulnara Safina.
Rafis Burganov, 1st Vice President of the Russian Student Sport Union and Rector of the Volga Region State University of Physical Culture, Sport and Tourism, was invited to deliver the welcoming speech.
Opening the colourful celebration, Rafis Burganov, rector of the university, thanked the guests for finding an opportunity to share an important event for the university in the hustle and bustle of the festive days.
"If we were to talk about everything done in the passing year, not even an hour would suffice. We have spent 300 million on capital investments alone: this includes new equipment, teaching aids, renovation of our facilities and much more. As early as January 2 of the new year, we are going to start hosting a huge number of people (the university will host the largest Special Olympics competitions in Russia, the Unified Games).
We are following the promise we made in 2013 when we were given the facilities of today's university - that the university's legacy will be the property not only of our country, but of the entire global student community.
We are entering the new year with great hopes and expectations in education, science and sports. Congratulations on the coming new year!", said the rector of the university and awarded the winners in the category "Employee of the Year".
The best employees of the Volga Region University in 2022 are: Elmira Khasanova, Deputy Head of the Accounting and Financial Control Department, Anton Zanin, Head of the Sports Events Organization Department, Alsu Ramazanova, Leading Specialist in the Educational and Methodological Work of the Educational Department, Dilyara Khasyanova, Head of the Organizational Work Department, Head of the Educational and laboratory complex Larisa Galiullina, administrator of the Federal Sports and Training Center Gymnastics Galina Torua, administrator of the Tennis Academy Gulnaz Murtazina, sports instructor of the Federal Sports Training Center for rowing Vladimir Gogolin, administrator of the training and sports complex Burevestnik Indoor Swimming Pool Lilia Komissarova , plumber of the Zilant Educational and Sports Complex - Nikolai Kiselev, Deputy Director of the Water Sports Palace Educational and Sports Complex Vladimir Kormushin.
Letters of appreciation from the Minister of Sports of Tatarstan and Rector of the Volga Region University were awarded to the curling, cross-country skiing, speed skating and short track teams, orienteering, biathlon, table tennis, rugby 7, taekwondo, boxing, volleyball, swimming, handball, athletics, Greco-Roman wrestling, freestyle wrestling, sambo, judo.
During the event the best in the categories "Teacher of the Year", "Sports Performance of the Year", as well as summed up the annual contest "Learn to Win" were also awarded.
Thus, the best in research activities was Tatiana Bogodvid, in sports activities - Dmitry Drozhetsky, in educational and organizational activities - Maria Vesloguzova, in educational activities - Valery Smorchkov, in international activities - Alexei Kaplev. The best young scientist was named Nicoletta Serebrennikova, the best professor of the year - Tatyana Tregubova, assistant professor of the year - Gulnara Murtazina, senior lecturer of the year - Dmitry Mostyakov, head of the department - Igor Konovalov, best tutors - Rafael Ilyasov, Albina Shaimieva, Landysh Ahmetshina, and the department of the theory and methodology of martial arts.
Eleonora Gontarenko was named Student of the Year, Tatiana Potekhina was named Tutor of the Year, Alsina Safieva was named Intellect, and Ellina Kadyrova was named International Student of the Year, Volunteer of the Year - Yana Tomashevskaya, Sports Organiser of the Year - Alina Kamaltdinova, Media Person of the Year - Veronika Besedina, Creative Person of the Year - Ramina Pronina, Public Person of the Year - Maria Matyukhina, Discovery of the Year - Varvara Shutova. The best student association of the year was the Akademiya Turklub. Polina Sarvilina became the winner of the grand prize of the annual student award "Learn to Win".
Dmitry Drozhetsky became the best coach in individual sports and Alexander Shagan became the best coach in team sports. The best student team in competitive sports was the women's rugby-7 team, and the best team in individual sports was the badminton team.
The Tradition Preservation Prize was awarded to the student rowing team.
Ivan Antonikhin, master of sport of Russia in artistic gymnastics, became the best athlete among men, and Irina Zlobina, master of sport of Russia in swimming, became the best athlete among women.
The Yaz and OBLIK dance groups, the Univoice vocal group and the king and queen of the winter ball presented creative numbers.
This year turned out to be full of bright and ambitious events for the university: the Friendship Games, the first All-Russian swimming competition involving international students, an ethno-cultural festival, All-Russian Olympiads, championships, competitions and forums.
Plans were announced and, as always, ambitious goals were set for the new year, 2023. In the coming year, the university will continue to actively participate in scientific, creative and sports activities of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tatarstan in particular.
