The literary and musical drawing room "Day of Remembrance and Sorrow dedicated to the anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War" was held on June 22. The event, organized by the Department of Foreign Languages and Linguistics together with the information resource center, brought together many students and teachers who are not indifferent to the history of the Fatherland.
The director of the Institute of Physical Culture Iskander Galeev made a welcoming speech at the beginning of the meeting. "I appeal on behalf of the leadership of our university, with an appeal to remember what happened 81 years ago at 4 o'clock in the morning. This event has dramatically turned the history of our country's development. We have no right to forget the day when the war began!", Iskander Galeev reminded the students.
In the living room, we read poems about the heroism of our soldiers, sang songs to the guitar and the hardships of the war and recalled the history of those difficult years. The event featured poems, prose and musical works by authors who were contemporaries of the Great Patriotic War. The program featured works in Russian and Tatar by such outstanding poets as Okudzhava, Vysotsky, Akhmatova, Jalil and others.
The guests of the event not only enjoyed touching poems to the musical accompaniment on the guitar of student Timur Osman, but also refreshed their knowledge of the Great Patriotic War by taking part in a quiz.
At exactly 12:15, time seemed to freeze, because all the participants paid tribute to the memory and sorrow with a nationwide minute of silence. The event ended on a touching and symbolic note, the guests sang the famous song "There was a war a long time ago" in chorus.
After the song, the head of the Department of Foreign Languages and Linguistics Venera Volchkova spoke with the words: "On the Day of Remembrance and Sorrow, I want to remember with great gratitude and great respect all our heroes who fell for peace in their native land. We are proud of our soldiers who once proved themselves selfless patriots and gave us life. I wish that we live amicably, safely and with dignity. Appreciate the world and take care of yourself!".
At the end of the meeting, the head of the information resource center Yulia Zubkova addressed the participants of the event. "On this day, our whole country mourns and remembers those of our heroes who died defending our homeland. Today this is the final event of our center this academic year and it's great that it ends on such a touching and heartfelt note," Yulia Zubkova summed up.
