The winners of the all-Russian student competitions in gymnastics, held in Penza from 25 to 26 April, was the women's team of the Volga region Academy of sports.
The competition, in addition to the "academicians" from Kazan, was attended by teams of the Smolensk state Academy of physical culture, sports and tourism, the Russian state University of physical culture (RSUVK), sports, youth and tourism, Chuvash state University, Moscow state Academy of physical culture (MGAFK), Penza state University, Volgograd state Academy of physical culture.  
In the national team of Volga region Academy in Penza has gone six students: freshman Ksenia Sebaldus, Ilse Aminov, student 2-year student Daria Reznik, Kalygulova Elina, Ekaterina Tokareva and Catherine Prince. In a bitter struggle, the students of the Academy snatched the victory from rivals from Smolensk, which included silver medalist of the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro Seda Tutkhalyan and the winner of the European championship Anastasia Dmitrieva.
According to the associate Professor of the Department of theory and methods of gymnastics, acting head of the Department Lyubov Botovoy the participants of the student championship was very strong. Gymnasts consistently called for the Russian team at the tournament in Penza defended the colors of not only the Smolensk Academy. The team of the Chuvash University was the champion of Russia, champion of the Universiade-2015 Polina Fedorova, student, Rgufksit Artemova Xenia in March in Penza has won "gold" of the championship of Russia in the team "Moscow-1". Although the team of the Volga region Academy and there were no "stars" level winners of the Olympic games, the University team, according to Botova, surpassed rivals at the expense of a sufficiently high average level of gymnasts.
- We are very glad that we managed to win the competition with the athletes of the highest class. And although on next day have us on the results of competition in individual types of was only one "bronze" Catherine Tokareva (in reference great leap), but four-quarters seats say, that we "are getting close" to high level.
The competition in Penza Volga region Academy were presented only the women's team, as men could not form a good reason. Part of the gymnasts of the"academics" are not held in part because of the age limit (to the competition is allowed only athletes not older than 25 years), others are not allowed to speak in Penza injury and participate in training of the national team.
