At the University of Sport and Tourism, elections for student government bodies have started. The first choice was made by the Institute of Sport and together they elected a chairman, a secretary and a person in charge of internal communications. At the beginning of the meeting, Maria Matyukhina, ex-Chairwoman of the Institute, spoke at the seventh election conference, reporting on internal university activities, including the Final Four in volleyball and football, quizzes and cultural and educational events.
Candidates were given two minutes to present their programme, after which they answered questions from the electorate and audience for another three minutes.
One candidate, Ekaterina Chebotareva, ran for the post of Secretary of the Student Council of the Institute of Sport. In her programme she talked about her experience as a competition secretary and noted her willingness to help students with any questions. The position of Internal Communications Officer is new for the university, but there were two brave candidates for it at once - Arina Gatiyatullina and Nadezhda Tsyura. In their speeches, they described how they understood the responsibilities of the new position and proposed solutions to the communication problems between students, teachers and administration. As a result, Arina Gatiyatullina was elected. Maria Plotnikova, who was elected for the second time, was nominated for the position of Chairperson of the Student Council of the Institute of Sport. She lost the first election but, thanks to her work in the team, she remained in the student body and wants to continue her work for the benefit of students. Maria Plotnikova is now the new Chairperson of the Institute of Sport Student Council.
"We hope that the outcome of the elections will be a truly active and energetic team, with which we will work closely and productively," summarised Robert Bikmukhametov, Director of the Institute of Sport. The students of the International Institute of Hotel Management and Tourism were the next to make their choice.
Former Chairperson Vitalina Ivanova was the first to report on the events held, including the Day of Tourism, the 'legal navigator' intellectual quiz and the results of the Institute's year.
"The time you spend as a member of the Student Council will be remembered for the rest of your lives," said the Director of the Institute Rezeda Khadiullina in her valedictory speech. - It will lay a solid foundation for your future career and student life. Today we will have no winners and losers; everyone will be a part of the institute's big friendly team. The new student council will continue to write our history.
There was one candidate - Alisa Gaifutdinova - running for the position of Secretary of the Institute of Management and Tourism Student Council. She talked about her experience in administrative work and organising events. Alexander Starkov bravely volunteered for the new position of Internal Communications Officer. He spoke in favour of student interaction and suggested that problems, questions and suggestions be collected via chatbots. Two candidates - Denis Poretskov and Adel Nabiullin - ran for the position of Student Council Chair. In their speeches they expressed the opinion that the chairman is a link between the dean's office and the students and advocated support for the students' initiatives. As a result of the vote, Denis Poretzkov was elected Chairperson.
The Institute of Physical Education was the last to make its choice. The competition for the positions was tight and challenging. Rail Vafin, ex-chairman of the Institute, was the first to make a traditional presentation on the events held, including: "Final 4" in football, the Media slam quiz, "Hide and Seek in the Dark" and many others.
"The work done we managed to do thanks to the support of the institute directorate and the university administration, for which we are very grateful," shared Rail. - I wish the new staff to achieve their goals. Elena Kochneva and Ksenia Krivova ran for the position of internal communications officer at the Institute of Physical Education. In the end Ksenia took the position.
Three first-year students Azalia Minullina, Natalia Myasishcheva and Dmitry Burtovoy vied for the position of Secretary of the Student Council. The candidates talked about how they wanted to improve the work of the secretary and their future team. As a result, voters favoured Natalia Myasishcheva.
In the election of a chairperson, there was some disagreement among the students. The candidates were Lyasan Vafina, Vladislav Bologov and Anna Starodubtseva. At the end of voting the students were dissatisfied with the results and demanded a re-vote. After the third attempt Vladislav Bologov became the Chairman of the Student Council of the Institute of Physical Culture.
The result of a bright and memorable election was the newly elected Student Council, which has a long and interesting work ahead of it.
