On April 17 Gennady Onishchenko, the Deputy President of the Russian Academy of Education, Deputy of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the 7th convocation, academician of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences and Russian Academy of Sciences, visited Kazan on a working visit.
Together with Rafis Burganov, Rector of the Volga Region State University of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism, he visited the school's facilities: the Aquatics Palace, Rowing Center, Scientific Research Institute of Physical Culture and Sports, Gymnastics Center, Badminton Center, Tennis Academy, Zilant Ice Arena and academic-laboratory building.
Gennady Onishchenko was able to see that not only the training, research and educational process is widely represented at the facilities of Volga Region University but also the competition process. Thus, during his visit to the Aquatics Palace, the academician appreciated not only the facilities of one of the best swimming pools of the country and looked at the multi-level water quality control system, but also watched the heats of the Russian Championship from the stands. These days 37 representatives from Tatarstan take part in the competitions, five of them are students of Volga Region University.
Gennady Onishchenko had a chance to evaluate the equipment of the courts in the Tennis Academy and see the preparation process for the upcoming Russian Kickboxing Cup. At the Rowing Center he could learn more about the process of training of athletes, visit the rowing pool and Scientific Research Institute of Physical Culture and Sports.
It is worth mentioning that the Volga Region University of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism is a Scientific Center for Physical Culture and Sports of the Russian Academy of Education, established to carry out joint research in pedagogy, psychology and age-specific physiology.
"Volga Region University appreciates interaction with the Russian Academy of Education," notes the rector of the sports university. - This gives us the opportunity to implement promising and important joint projects. Among the main activities of our scientific center are the exchange of best practices as part of student internships at sport schools and professional development courses, holding All-Russian scientific-practical conferences and developing methodological complexes to support physical education classes in schools and sections."
Gennady Onishchenko was met at the Gymnastics Center by Lubov Botova, head of the Department of Theory and Methodology of Gymnastics. During the tour of the facility, the head of the department told the guests not only about the conditions under which they train, but also touched on the scientific approach to the physical fitness of athletes. The excursion ended with a visit to the teaching-laboratory building, where a roundtable titled "Current Directions of Scientific Research in Physical Education and Sports" was held. Participants discussed the issues of sports training, nutrition, rehabilitation, health preservation, and rehabilitation. Andrey Nazarenko, Vice-Rector for Research and International Affairs of the Volga Region State University, made the keynote speech. The session was attended by Airat Farrakhov, the deputy of the 8th State Duma, Marina Patyashina, the head of the Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection, Alsu Asadullina, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Tatarstan, Alexey Sozinov, Rector of Kazan State Medical University, and Rimma Mukhametshina, General Director of the Food and Social Food Department.
"The facilities of Volga University are an invaluable legacy that successfully works for the benefit of students and residents of the city," Gennady Onishchenko said afterwards. - At each stage, the university provides its students with strong support - both medically and logistically.
