On the eve of the 50th anniversary of the Volga Region University of Sports and Tourism, we continue with the column "Legendary Jubilees of the University". On April 8, Vladimir Gogolin, an honorary coach in rowing and a senior lecturer of the department of theory and methodology of athletics and rowing at Volga Region University, celebrated his 70th birthday.
"If I take it, I have to win," says Vladimir Gogolin himself about his professional path. His students always have ambitious tasks - to perform decently at regional and international championships, which they always cope with thanks to the vast experience of their mentor: Vladimir Gogolin's total experience of 46 years. During this time he trained four USSR Masters of Sport, eight Masters of Sport International Class, champions of the USSR, world champions and winners of international regattas in the GDR, USA, France, Germany, a participant of the Olympic Games and two champions of Russia.
Among the outstanding pupils are the participant of the Olympic Games in Atlanta, the winner of the World Championship Alexander Ustinov, winners and prize-winners of international regattas Ivan Kovalkov and Andrey Zarubin and the winner of the World Championship Andrey Feoktistov.
Over the years as a coach, Vladimir has proved to be an experienced and demanding specialist, successfully passing on his knowledge and experience to his students. While perfecting his skills and learning new methods, Vladimir Gogolin is actively engaged in promoting and popularising rowing in Kazan and Tatarstan. He is an example of diligence and commitment to the chosen path for his athletes.
