Scientific and methodical seminar "Analytical and Functional Support of Sports Teams" was held the day before, on March 28 in the Academic Council Hall of the Volga Region University of Sport and Tourism. The seminar programme of the seminar touched upon the aspects of analytical and bio-medical work with the sport teams of the Volga Region University, integrated assessment of the efficiency of competitive performance in university basketball and functional readiness of highly qualified volleyball players.
Rector of the Volga Region State University Rafis Burganov, Vice Rector for Academic Matters and Digital Transformation Adelia Pavlova, Vice Rector for Research and International Activities Andrey Nazarenko, Head of the Department of Biomedical Disciplines Alexey Zverev, Acting Head of the Department of Physical and Mathematical Disciplines and Information Technologies Alexander Vasilets participated in the seminar. Coaches of some sports teams of the university, as well as graduate students of the university also made their speeches and proposals.
During the seminar participants came to the conclusion that it is necessary for coaches of sports teams to actively cooperate with postgraduate and master's students of Volga Region State University in order to fully use the potential of Volga Region State University Research Institute and enhance athletic performance. Such cooperation would be mutually beneficial for both parties: sports teams would be able to learn their "weaknesses" and undergraduate and graduate students of the university would be able to gain great research experience, which would be useful not only for their diploma, but also for their subsequent employment. Specialists in the field of analytical and functional support in sports are in demand now more than ever.
"Our university successfully develops 41 student sports teams," said Rafis Burganov, Rector of the Volga Region University. - The need for analytical and functional support is critical from both practical and academic points of view. It improves the teams' performance and provides our undergraduate and postgraduate students with a large field of work and new scientific discoveries. Analytics provides an opportunity to notice the tiniest, but important, touches in order to pinpoint improvements and achieve the best possible results. The lack of competition with other universities in this respect does not make me happy - the more active our colleagues are, the faster we will all achieve quality results together. And the higher our successes will be, both in sports and scientific achievements.
