On 19 November the 1st stage of the winter season of the student rowing league started across Russia. The absolute champions of the summer season, students of the University of Sport, competed on the new Concept2 machines and showed decent results. At the end of the summer season, our rowers returned to training hard after a short rest, which paid off.
The competition was held in one day. Students raced in distances of 1000 metres, 250 metres and 4x250 metres relay.
Among the men, 4th year student Oleg Sartaev came first, his classmate Rakhat Duseikenov won the silver medal. Denis Penin, a freshman, took bronze. Sofia Dementieva was the winner, with her classmate Darya Shinkareva coming in third, both freshmen. Tatiana Rybalka, a third year student, came in second.
The sprint race featured the same names, but in a different order: Rakhat Duseikenov, Oleg Sartaev, Denis Penin, for the girls - Shinkareva Daria, Dementieva Sofia, Tatiana Rybalka.
