One of the unique sports facilities in Russia, the Federal Rowing Centre, was visited today by Rustam Bobokulov, Head of the Sports Development Department of Tashkent Region of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The guest was welcomed at the facility by Azat Sharapov, First Vice Rector of the Volga Region University of Physical Culture, Sports and Tourism, Andrei Nazarenko, Vice Rector for Research and International Activities, and Rowing Centre Director Andrei Feoktistov.

During the visit, the Head of Tashkent region Rowing Center and medical unit of the Rowing Institute of Physical Culture and Sports familiarized himself with activities of the Rowing Center. In particular, he visited a rowing pool, a specialized hall with rowing ergometers, a swimming pool, a universal gym, as well as the training centre Regata Hotel.

The guest of Tatarstan was impressed with what he saw. It should be noted that the Federal Rowing Centre is a unique facility combining sports, hotel, rehabilitation, medical and administrative facilities.

The Centre for open water rowing sports has 9 rowing and canoeing lanes, two gyms, a rowing pool, a hall with specialised rowing simulators (designed for year-round training of athletes), Regata hotel complex with 199 beds, spectator stands, boathouses and workshops, referee towers, a swimming pool (25 m) and a game room.

The material and technical base of the Rowing Centre allows athletes to conduct training activities both on the water and in the sports facilities throughout the calendar year without leaving the territory of the base, and the coaching staff to conduct analytical work.

At the same time, the availability of the Sports Medicine Centre of the University's Research Institute of Physical Education and Sport on the base of the facility is of great importance. While at training events, the Russian national team athletes are provided with top-quality medical care. Specialists of the Centre help assess the level of functional training, reveal factors limiting performance, and develop a recovery programme. The Rowing Centre is currently used by the Russian national rowing team for training purposes.

During the meeting, the parties discussed possible ways and prospects of cooperation.
