The celebration of the All-Russian Gymnastics Day ended with a colourful sports show at one of the facilities of the Volga Region University of Sport and Tourism - the Gymnastics Centre. The sporting event, held through the efforts of the Department of Gymnastics Theory and Methodology, traditionally brought together several generations of gymnasts, from veterans to young athletes.

Rafis Burganov, rector of the Volga Region State University of Sports and Tourism, addressed the participants and guests of honour and reminded that the Gymnastics Centre was initially built as a centre to combine artistic and rhythmic gymnastics.

"At that time we had no opportunity to gather in such large halls, today the situation has fundamentally changed and only at the Volga Region University we have the opportunity to train several dozens of sports," confessed Rafis Burganov. - It's very pleasant that today such high-profile events as the Russian Championships are held in Kazan. In conclusion, the rector addressed his words of gratitude to sports veterans. "I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have made a huge contribution to the development of rhythmic and artistic gymnastics. You can see that the cause you have dedicated your conscious life to is still alive," said Rafis Burganov.

On behalf of the Ministry of Sports of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Russian Dance Sport Federation, Emir Kharisov, President of the Republican Dance Sport Federation, addressed the audience.

"Gymnastics is probably the main sport; it is the beginning of all beginnings," Emir Kharisov stressed. - I hope that the legacy of the competitions held within these walls will somehow be passed on to students of the university and pupils of our sports school. Success and great sports achievements to all of you.

The official part of the event saw the presentation of well-deserved awards to those who have contributed to the development of gymnastics in the past year. Both students and teachers of the Volga Region State University were among the award winners.

The festivities continued with performances by athletes. Taking turns on the stage, the event saw champions and medallists of national and international competitions as well as very young athletes. Spectators could enjoy all kinds of gymnastics. First the aesthetic gymnastics group shone with the beauty of movement, then acrobats and representatives of artistic gymnastics replaced them.

Later, sportsmen from a relatively new sport - acrobatic rock'n'roll and modern sports dance - appeared on the carpet. The dancers were entertained with solo and group performances by rhythmic gymnasts. And, of course, festive flag parades, as no mass event can do without them.

The logical conclusion of the event was a photo shoot, which turned into a friendly chat.
